Budget Norwegian Air Shuttle says it will start new nonstop service to Oakland International Airport

from their hubs in Stockholm and Oslo next year.

The new flights begin in May 2014 using the new state-of-the art Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft that seats 291

passengers. The flights are the first-ever nonstop services offered from the two Scandinavian capitals to the Bay Area.

Norwegian will operate two weekly flights between Stockholm and Oakland on Tuesdays and Saturdays beginning May 3. The airline will have three weekly flights between Oslo and Oakland on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays beginning May 28. Both have an introductory fare of $236 one way.

Norwegian is the second largest airline in Scandinavia with flights throughout Europe and into North Africa and the Middle East. In May, it launched flights from Scandinavia to New York and Southeast Asia.
