PLEASANTON -- A water main break has shut down a section of Springdale Avenue near the Stoneridge Mall at the height of the Saturday heat wave, police said.

The break was reported around 2:30 p.m., but dispatchers said the water main has yet to be shut off but it is unknown if any Pleasanton residents have been affected by the water loss.

It is unknown when the section of road will be reopened, police said. It is also unknown what caused the water main to break.
