SACRAMENTO -- He could be getting a license plate, Charlie Brown.
The state Senate has passed a bill allowing the DMV to issue a commemorative license plate featuring Snoopy, Charles Schulz's beloved 'Peanuts' character.
The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/1e71ukz ) senators sent the bill to Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday.
The Snoopy plate is intended to raise money for California's 1,400 museums and science centers.
If the governor signs the bill, at least 7,500 motorists would need to preorder the plate before the DMV begins to issue it.
But the California Association of Museums says it has a list of at least 9,200 vehicle owners who have expressed interest.
The plates would cost $50 each, plus an extra $48 for personalized lettering.
The assembly passed the bill in May.
