OAKLAND -- A 31-year-old Oakland man was sent to federal prison for 23 years this week after reaching a plea with federal prosecutors that ended a carjacking, robbery and drug dealing case.
Ismael Eduardo Axtle took the deal on May 14 when he pleaded guilty to seven federal crimes including carjacking, robbery, drug dealing and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The deal was made after Axtle was arrested for a robbing a San Francisco parking garage in July 2011 and then carjacking a BMW in San Francisco a month later.
In September 2011, Axtle used the carjacked BMW to carry methamphetamine and a firearm to Turlock. Two months after that, Axtle and others robbed a massage parlor at gunpoint in Petaluma and carjacked a family that was riding in an SUV in Oakland.
Axtle also admitted having two firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in an Oakland storage locker.
