OAKLAND -- A woman who died Wednesday morning after she was hit by a pickup truck while crossing a street in Chinatown was identified by police Thursday as 71-year-old Quinoon Li, who lived a few blocks from where the accident happened.

Li was hit by a Toyota pickup truck driven by a 44-year-old San Lorenzo man at the intersection of Ninth and Alice streets.

Li was in a crosswalk going south on Alice Street when she was hit by the truck, which was traveling eastbound on Ninth Street. The driver told police he was blinded by the sun and did not see Li. He was questioned at the scene and released pending further investigation. His name was not released.

Li died at Highland Hospital at 11:23 a.m. Wednesday.

Police believe she was on her way to a store to do some shopping when she was hit by the truck.
