OAKLAND -- A 15-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man shot Monday night in East Oakland are both expected to recover from their wounds, police said. Their names were not released.
The shooting happened about 7:20 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 61st Avenue and East 16th Street.
Police said the man got into an argument with another man who opened fire on him. The 20-year-old was wounded in the hip. The girl, who was standing down the street, was hit in the foot by an errant bullet and was not an intended target, police said. It was not known if the wounded man and the girl knew each other.
Police believe the shooting was gang-related. The suspect ran away and is being sought.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the gunman. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or a tip line at 510-773-2805.
