SAN JOSE -- An elderly woman who was reported missing on Sunday evening was reunited with her family Monday after a "very alert citizen" located her, San Jose police said.
Police had asked for the public's help fining the at-risk woman, Vuong Tran, 83. She was reported missing at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.
When she left, Tran said she was going for a walk at a nearby park, and she wasn't heard from until she was found Monday, according to police.
She has recently begun suffering from short-term memory loss. She also suffers from diabetes, police said.
San Jose police officer Albert Morales said in a news release that Tran was found safe in the area of West Capitol Expressway and Narvaez Avenue by "a very alert citizen who recognized her from local news reports."
Family members were contacted and Tran was reunited with them, he said.
