SAN JOSE -- Nine people were displaced after a fire swept through their Victorian-style home this morning, according to a fire captain.
All nine people safely got out of the house, located in the 70 block of North 12th Street, according to San Jose fire Capt. Reggie Williams.
The blaze was reported at 5:08 a.m. and was under control in 55 minutes, Williams said.
One of the residents woke up to the smell of smoke and got everybody out of the house before the smoke detectors went off, Williams said. The blaze started in the back of the home and advanced into the attic, Williams said.
There were no injuries associated to the fire. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
The American Red Cross of Silicon Valley responded to the scene to help the displaced residents.
