BERKELEY -- UC Berkeley police are investigating after several reports that a man has been exposing himself on the campus.
Five women, ranging from 17 to 21 years old and all of them students, reported three separate incidents about 45 minutes apart in two separate campus housing buildings on Wednesday, police said.
The suspect was described by police as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall. He had a medium build, short dark-colored hair and an unshaven face and was wearing black stretch pants, police said.
The first two incidents happened in a bathroom inside the Unit 3 Central Common Building, located at 2400 Durant Ave., police said. At 10:45 p.m., an 18-year-old entered the bathroom located near room L34 and emerged from a stall to see a man with his pants down and masturbating in the center of the room, police said. At 11:05 p.m., a 21-year-old woman was washing her hands at the sink in the same bathroom, looked up and saw the same thing, police said.
In both cases, the women fled and were unharmed physically. After the second incident, the woman told a resident assistant, who called police.
Police then were notified at 11:28 p.m. that a man exposed himself to a group of three women ranging in age from 17 to 19 at the Unit 1 workout room, at 2650 Durant Ave. The women were working out and looked over toward a window to see the man standing in the window, genitals exposed and touching himself. Several UC police officers responded but the man escaped capture.
Anyone with information is urged to call UC Police at 510-642-0472 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or 510-642-6760 at all other times.
