Are you an Oakland Raiders or San Francisco 49ers season ticket holder? Are you part of an official or unofficial team booster club? Do you bleed silver and black or red and gold? Are you part of "The Nation," or a member of "The Faithful?"
If so, please join Bay Area News Group on Dec. 4 at 6-9 p.m. for a viewing and discussion of the recent documentary "League of Denial: The NFL's Concussion Crisis," which highlights the controversy around traumatic brain injury. We want to find out what impact the documentary has on the fans who love the sport the most.
We'll also discuss how fears of brain injury are impacting lower levels of the sport, like Pop Warner youth football, which has reportedly seen a dramatic decline in participation over the past two years, largely attributed to concussion concerns.
This all-ages event will be held at Ricky's Sports Theatre and Grill, 15028 Hesperian Blvd. in San Leandro. Light snacks will be served, and there will be a no-host bar.
Space is limited, so to RSVP for this event, please go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/concussiondiscussion.
The documentary augments the Oct. 8 release of the book "League of Denial," written by ESPN investigative reporters Steve Fainaru and Mark Fainaru-Wada.
