SAN JOSE -- Three people suffered severe injuries in a collision early this morning in South San Jose, according to a fire captain.

The two-vehicle collision happened this morning at 7:34 a.m. on Silver Creek Valley Road near Farnsworth Drive, according to San Jose fire Capt. Cleo Doss.

A truck driving downhill on Silver Creek Valley Road collided with a Prius going uphill, according to Doss.

Three adults in the Prius were taken to a hospital with "severe traumatic injuries," Doss said.

The driver of the Prius was stuck inside the car for about 35 minutes and had to be extricated by firefighters.

The truck driver declined any medical attention.
