OAKLAND -- A 26-year-old Fairfield man was stabbed to death Thursday afternoon in East Oakland, but investigators do not yet have a motive in the killing, police said.

The stabbing happened about 2:20 p.m. in the 1900 block of 73rd Avenue and the man was pronounced dead at Highland Hospital at 3:05 p.m., police said.

The killing was the 81st in Oakland this year.

The suspect fled on foot and no arrests have been made. The suspect was described as black, about 35 years old, 5 feet 9 and 175 pounds with long dreadlocks. He was wearing a black hooded jacket.

Part of 73rd Avenue between Weld and Holly streets are closed to vehicle and foot traffic while police investigate the killing.
