HAYWARD -- Police are searching for two men suspected in a brazen daytime carjacking that took place at a city auto dealership over the weekend.

No one was injured in the Sunday afternoon incident in the 22000 block of Mission Boulevard, police said.

Officers responded at 2:45 p.m. to Empire Auto after two male suspects entered the dealership and told a car salesman they wanted to buy a Range Rover, said Sgt. Mark Ormsby.

When the suspects told the salesman they wanted to take the SUV for a test drive, one of the men pushed him out of the way and the suspects jumped into the Range Rover and sped off in an unknown direction, Ormsby said.

Police are asking the public for help in tracking down the men or the stolen four-door SUV described as gray and green in color.

The first suspect was described as a black man in his 20s, 5'9, 150 pounds and wearing a black baseball hat and black button-up shirt. The second suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, 5'9, 180 pounds and wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 510-293-7000 or the anonymous tip line: 510-293-7197.
