An apparent home invasion in rural Vacaville left a man hospitalized with gunshot wounds Wednesday night, officials reported.

Solano County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a home in the 5100 block of Poplar Road, just east of Leisure Town Road, around 6 p.m., after dispatchers received a report of a shooting that had just taken place inside the residence, said Deputy Daryl Snedeker, public information officer for the Sheriff's Office.

The victim, one five people inside the home at the time of the break-in, was conscious and breathing when authorities arrived at the residence, situated near the intersection of Willow Road at the end of Poplar Road, Snedeker said.

Preliminary reports indicated that four suspects wearing ski masks or some type of face covering and each armed with a handgun, had barged into the home, officials said.
