Lorde is hoping to extend her reign in 2014.
The New Zealand electro-pop artist, who rose from obscurity this year to become one of the world's biggest stars, has plans to tour North America again in March. The trek in support of the top-selling debut "Pure Heroine" -- my pick for the best album of the year -- kicks off March 3 in Austin, Texas and winds up March 26 at the Fox Theatre in Oakland.
Tickets for the Oakland date are priced at $42.50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Dec. 20 through www.ticketmaster.com.
Lorde, who turned 17 in November, last performed in the Bay Area in early December at Oracle Arena in Oakland during Live 105's annual Not So Silent Night holiday shows. She also played a sold-out show at the Fillmore in San Francisco in September.
Lorde first came to fame via the song "Royals," which was one of 2013's biggest singles. She's been nominated for four Grammys, but, shockingly, not in the best new artist field.
