Police are seeking Cedric Webb, 55, as a suspect in the shooting Friday morning of a woman near the Alameda County Administration Building.

The 33-year-old woman, who has not been identified, was shot multiple times by ex-boyfriend Cedric Webb while on her way to file a permanent restraining order against him at the Rene C. Davidson Courthouse just after 8 a.m., police said. She had filed a temporary restraining order a few weeks ago, but it was set to expire, authorities added.

Webb was waiting for the woman outside a restaurant near the intersection of 12th and Madison streets, police said. After she was shot, the woman stumbled about half a block and collapsed.

Webb, of Oakland, fled in a black 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor. He surrendered to police at Oakland police headquarters around 3:20 p.m.

Webb was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a firearm and corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant.

The woman was conscious and speaking when police arrived. An update on her condition was not immediately available.
