SCOTTS VALLEY -- A man and woman were arrested Wednesday after they were caught with stolen credit cards and other stolen items at a Scotts Valley gas station.
About 7:30 p.m., Qulee Ray Helm of Oakland was at a gas station at 90 Mount Hermon Road in Scotts Valley when someone noticed that she had several stolen credit cards in her purse, said Scotts Valley police Sgt. David Ball.
Police were called, and officers spotted Helm in a parked Buick LaCrosse at the gas station. Aaron Lee Luster, 21, of Oakland also was in the vehicle.
The Buick was stolen from San Mateo, police said.
Officers searched it and said they found stolen credit cards and a driver's license used to commit identity theft and fraud.
Helm and Luster were arrested on suspicion of identity theft and credit card fraud, police said. Helm, 29, and Luster posted $5,000 bail each at Santa Cruz County Jail, according to jail records. Luster listed his occupation as a hairstylist.
Authorities now are trying to find several unidentified victims of credit card fraud, Ball said.
Scotts Valley police ask anyone with information to call the investigations unit at 831-440-5670 or the anonymous tip line at 831-438-8090.
