PLEASANTON -- Police are searching for a man who robbed a UPS store on Monday afternoon and who may be connected to another robbery that took place last week.
Officers were dispatched at noon to the UPS Store on Pimlico Drive for a report of a robbery that had just taken place, police said.
A sales clerk inside the store told officers that a man walked into the business and handed her a note demanding money. The clerk complied, police said, and the man grabbed money from her and ran out the front door onto Pimlico Drive toward Brockton Drive.
No vehicle was seen, but police described the suspect as a white man, between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 250 pounds. He wore what appeared to be an Oakland Raiders beanie cap, blue jeans and a black jacket possibly made from leather. The suspect also used black gloves, wore sunglasses and appeared to have a reddish-blond beard.
The robbery, police said, is consistent with another robbery that took place Dec. 17 at Behind the Door Beauty Supply on Hopyard Avenue.
During that robbery, police said the suspect also produced a demand note to an employee and fled with cash from the register. He, too, was last seen running out of the store and into a parking lot.
That suspect was described as white man, age 30-40 years old, about 6 feet tall with a large, muscular build. He was clean shaven and wore a black "zip-up" leather-like jacket that was zipped up to his neck. He also wore a black-and-white striped knit beanie, possibly with an Oakland Raiders emblem, and light-colored, faded blue jeans. He wore dark black sunglasses, a black leather jacket and black gloves.
No one was hurt in either robbery.
Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to call police at 925-931-5100.
