SAN LORENZO -- A man who Alameda County Sheriff's investigators say killed his wife Christmas Day and then turned the gun on himself has been identified as Amerwinfino Lim Jr., 40.
An autopsy conducted Thursday on Lim showed that he died of a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the Alameda County Coroner's office.
A separate autopsy for Lim's 36-year-old wife -- who the Sheriff's Office identified as Violeta Aragon -- is slated to take place on Friday, a coroner's spokeswoman said.
Aragon was shot multiple times about 2 a.m. in the garage of a small yellow house on the 1800 block of Via Amigos. The shooting was likely sparked by some sort of "marital discord" between the couple, Sheriff's Sgt. J.D. Nelson said.
He declined to discuss details or elaborate on why the fatal shooting took place due to the sensitive nature of the case, but did say the couple did not have custody issues, had not filed for divorce and that no restraining order had been filed within the household.
The shooting occurred with three children ranging in age from 11 to 17 years and two grandparents home at the time of the shooting.
One of the couple's sons was inside the garage and witnessed the shooting, Nelson said.
Neighbors David and Ana Quon, who said they have lived next door to the family for 17 years, said their home was used by Sheriff's Office investigators to interview witnesses who were in the home at the time of the shooting. Ana Quon said in all the years she lived next door to the couple, she never heard any fighting.
The children are now staying with family members, authorities said.
