GILROY -- Police are searching for a man who was captured on a surveillance camera as he robbed a bank at Santa Teresa Boulevard and Hecker Pass Road shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The man walked into the Union Bank branch and gave the teller a note demanding money. The teller complied, and the robber fled the bank with an unspecified amount of cash. He did not display a weapon during the robbery, police said, and nobody was injured.

Officers quickly responded to the scene and searched the area, but a suspect was not found.

Police released two stills from the surveillance camera in hopes that someone will recognize the robber. He is described as white, in his mid 20s without facial hair, wearing a black baseball cap with no logo, black hooded sweatshirt, black shorts and white tennis shoes.
