Daniel Lee John, a 30-year-old San Jose resident, was arrested last week on drug possession charges following an assault at a local convenience store, Milpitas Police Department reported.
On Jan. 2 at 8:11 p.m., a customer at 7-Eleven at 1771 Clear Lake Ave. called Milpitas police to report a customer had just assaulted a store employee. The caller advised dispatchers the suspect was also crowing like a rooster and threatening to cut another customer's throat, police said.
Arriving officers attempted to contact the suspect, in the parking lot of Parktown Plaza, which is across the street from 7-Eleven. The suspect, however, fled from officers on foot into San Jose, police said.
Milpitas officers pursued the suspect on foot and eventually located him hiding in dense brush next to the transition road of northbound Interstate 680 to Landess Avenue. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident, police said.
He was allegedly found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine. The suspect, later identified as John, was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, being under the influence of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and prowling, police said.
The store clerk was pushed but did not require medical attention, police said.
