OAKLAND -- A 24-year-old Oakland man died from his wounds early Thursday after he was robbed and shot in East Oakland, police said.
Brandon Clemens was shot and killed about 11:56 p.m. Wednesday in the 2000 block of 14th Avenue, police said. He was walking with a 25-year-old friend, who also was robbed but not injured, police said. The friend's name was not released.
The two men had been visiting a friend and decided to walk to their West Oakland homes, police said.
As they were walking they were confronted by two men who demanded their valuables, Sgt. Mike Gantt said.
Police have not released information about why Clemens was shot during the robbery and did not reveal what was taken from the two men.
Paramedics pronounced Clemens dead at the scene at 12:26 a.m. Thursday.
The killing was Oakland's third homicide of the year. Last year at this time there had been six homicides in the city.

In another shooting Wednesday night, a man was wounded in the leg about 9:10 p.m. in the 9000 block of International Boulevard. He was able to get to a hospital on his own and was in stable condition. No motive was released for the shooting, and no were arrests made, police said.
