The identity of the man gunned down in the parking lot of the Executive Inn following an altercation last week has been released by police: Jesus Ulises Granados, a 19-year-old San Jose resident.

"There are no arrests in the homicide yet," Milpitas police Lt. Greg Mack said Tuesday.

On Jan. 14 at about 10:23 p.m., reports of gunfire summoned Milpitas Police Department officers to the inn at 95 Dempsey Road where Granados was shot and killed, becoming the city's first homicide of 2014.

Police reported to the hotel one minute after receiving a series of calls about shots being fired in the parking lot. They found Granados lying in the lot on the Dempsey Road side.

Emergency crews arrived, but declared the man dead.

A party was taking place in two rooms on the third floor of the hotel while the shooting occurred, police said, but investigators do not know if the killing was related to the party.

Hotel guests told the Milpitas Post they heard four shots.

The morning after the crime, police said they would see if any of the nearby businesses captured surveillance images that could aid their investigation.

They are looking for multiple unknown suspects who fled in a dark sedan.

Police said it is unknown if the homicide was gang- or drug-related.
