SAN JOSE -- A man was found dead Wednesday morning alongside an onramp to Interstate 680 in East San Jose, and his death does not appear to be suspicious, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man's body was discovered around 11:30 a.m. in a hilly area where eastbound McKee Road connects to the southbound I-680 onramp, Officer Chris Falkowski saidi Authorities say he was homeless and known to people in the area, but beyond a description of being of middle age, no other descriptive information was released.

Someone who had not seen him recently called the San Jose Police Department about his absence. That person later spotted the man's body near an area where encampments are known to be. When it was determined that the area was technically part of the freeway system, police called the CHP.

A cause of death is unknown pending an autopsy, and his identity will be not be released until his family is notified.
