SOCHI, Russia -- No surprises came out of the selection of the U.S. brakemen for two-man bobsled teams, announced Saturday by American officials.
The strong U.S. contingent will be anchored by Steven Holcomb of Park City with long-time partner Steve Langton of Melrose, Mass.
Monterey driver Nick Cunningham is paired with fellow national guardsman and roommate Dallas Robinson of Georgetown, Ky. USA-3 pilot Cory Butner of Yucaipa, Calif., is teamed with Chris Fogt of Alpine, Utah.
Two-man competition is scheduled for held Feb. 16-17.
Those races will be followed by the women's competition Feb. 18-19. Elana Meyers of Douglasville, Ga., is paired with Lauryn Williams of Miami, while pilot Jamie Greubel of Newtown, Pa., is competing with Chicago's Aja Evans. Jazmine Fenlator of Wayne, N.J., is going with Lolo Jones of Des Moines, Iowa. Jones and Williams have competed in the Summer Olympics in track and field.
The assignments came a week before the competition after U.S. officials analyzed training runs on the Olympic track at the Sanki Sliding Center in Krasnaya Polyana.
