NEWARK -- Police are asking the public for help in catching a credit-card thief they say used an ATM card stolen during an auto burglary in the city.
During a recent auto burglary an unknown suspect stole a purse with credit cards and cash and, less than one hour later, video surveillance captured a man using the card to withdraw cash from a banking machine in Fremont and from another one inside a Fremont 7-Eleven, according to Newark police Cmdr. Mike Carroll.
Police did not say when the auto burglary took place.
At the time of the burglary, witnesses told police, the suspect who stole the purse was driving a dark green Toyota with gold emblems.
