SAN JOSE -- Fifteen people were displaced Sunday by an attic fire that damaged an apartment building in South San Jose.

The San Jose Fire Department received a call at 3:08 a.m. and responded to the 5700 block of Tucson Drive, near Almaden Expressway and Blossom Hill Road. Residents reported smoke coming from the vents of the four-plex, senior dispatcher Jennifer Burnham said.

No injuries were reported. The fire was brought under control at 3:44 a.m.

Two units suffered from smoke and water damage, but because gas and electricity were turned off, residents of all four units were displaced, fire officials said. The department called the American Red Cross to assist in relocating the residents, including eight adults and seven children.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Burnham said.
