SAN JOSE -- San Jose Police are seeking the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian Sunday afternoon near The Woods Drive and Snell Avenue in South San Jose.

Police received a 911 call at 3:07 p.m. Sunday, Officer Albert Morales said. Arriving officers found a bleeding man lying on the ground. Shortly later, emergency responders pronounced the man dead.

The vehicle believed to be responsible fled the scene. Police said the name of the victim is not being released pending notification of family.

The police department's traffic investigation unit is handling the investigation.
