FREMONT -- Police are asking the public for help identifying an attempted burglar caught on video trying to break into a car and a home in the Vinyards-Avalon neighborhood last week.

Officers said about 2:15 p.m. Friday a man was captured on private home video surveillance attempting to burglarize a vehicle and a home on Totem Court.

The suspect was described as a black or Hispanic male wearing light colored jeans, a white long-sleeve shirt and sporting short dark hair. He carried black gloves and a black backpack and was associated with a small, gold SUV captured on video driving in the area, police said.
