SAN JOSE -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a woman found Tuesday morning on an Interstate 280 offramp in West San Jose.

The victim, a 37-year-old San Jose resident who was not identified pending notification of kin, was spotted about 3:15 a.m. in the middle of the northbound exit lanes onto Saratoga Avenue, according to the CHP.

The initial 911 call reported a large doll or person in the roadway, followed by another caller describing a person. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office was summoned to the site.
