SAN MATEO -- A San Mateo man was arrested on suspicion of soliciting a teenage girl for sex after surveillance photos released online brought forth two additional victims, authorities said.
Roberto "Guadalupe" Micalax, 41, was booked into San Mateo County Jail on Wednesday after surveillance footage released on Facebook led two 12-year-old girls to step forward, San Mateo police spokesman David Norris said. The girls told police that Micalax, who was wanted for soliciting a 15-year-old on Feb. 25, also had made inappropriate contact with them.
In the Feb. 25, incident, Micalax reportedly approached the teen about 8:30 a.m. on North Claremont Street and made lewd requests to her in Spanish, Norris said. He fled the area after she refused his request, and responding officers were unable to locate him.
Surveillance photos taken at a nearby business were posted on various news sites and social media platforms, and Micalax contacted police on Wednesday knowing he was wanted for questioning, Norris said. He was arrested on charges of solicitation for sex in public, child annoyance and assault with the intent to commit a sex crime.
