OAKLAND -- A man found dead Thursday evening alongside the Oak Street offramp from Interstate 880 has been identified as a 71-year-old transient, the Alameda County Coroner's Office said Friday.
The man's name is not being released yet because relatives have not been located.
An autopsy will be conducted, but a coroner's spokeswoman said there was no sign of trauma to the man's body and foul play is not suspected.
The man was found about 6:23 p.m. Thursday in bushes next to the northbound offramp from the freeway.
The California Highway Patrol previously said the death was not due to a traffic accident or a homicide. The offramp was not closed during the CHP investigation.
There are some homeless encampments in the area, but it is not known if the man stayed at any of them.
