OAKLAND -- A man killed when his vehicle crashed in the Oakland hills Monday afternoon was identified Tuesday by the Alameda County Coroner's Office as Mohammad Ahmad, 67, of Fremont.

Ahmad was pronounced dead at the scene after his subcompact Toyota Yaris rolled over and crashed into a ravine about 2:15 p.m. near the intersection of Westover and Escher drives in the area of Shepherd Canyon Park.

Police said Ahmad was driving northbound on Westover when it lost control for unknown reasons and left the roadway, subsequently overturning into a ravine.

The wreck is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 510-777-8570.
