OAKLAND -- A man killed Sunday in a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 880 near O.co Coliseum was identified Tuesday by the Alameda County Coroner's Office as Paul Cao, 32.
The coroner's office is still trying to establish where Cao lived, with San Leandro and Alameda being possibilities, officials said.
Cao died and his passenger in the 2000 Toyota Sienna minivan he was driving was injured in the wreck that happened about 3:10 p.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes of I-880 north of Hegenberger Road, the California Highway Patrol said. The collision left the Toyota overturned.
The driver of the other car involved, a black Honda, fled the freeway on foot and is still being sought, the CHP said.
The owner of the Honda has been identified and is cooperating with investigators, the CHP said. The owner was not driving the Honda at the time of the collision.
Anyone with information about the wreck is asked to call the CHP at 510-450-3821.
