OAKLAND -- A man was robbed and stabbed in East Oakland Tuesday morning, police said.

The man's name and age were not released. He was in stable condition at a hospital and is expected to recover.

The violent confrontation happened about 11:25 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of 71st Avenue and Hamilton Street, within sight of O.co Coliseum.

At least two and possibly three robbers confronted the man, robbed him of a cellphone and stabbed him.

It was not immediately known if the man resisted the robbers. Where he was stabbed was not released by police.

The suspects fled in a car.
