SAN LORENZO -- Two women who were shot in an apparent drive-by shooting Sunday are expected to live, an Alameda County Sheriff's Office spokesman said.

Officers were called at 5:30 p.m. to Via Carmen near San Lorenzo Community Park for a report of shots fired in the area, said Sgt. J.D. Nelson.

When deputies arrived they learned that two unidentified women had each been shot once in the leg by an unknown suspect while they were outside. The women's ages and hometowns were not immediately available.

Deputies found the women inside a home on Via Carmen with a group of people, but neither the victims nor anyone else were cooperating with law enforcement, Nelson said.

The women were transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley to be treated. No arrests were made and no motive established in the shooting.

The incident remained under investigation on Monday, Nelson said.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call the Sheriff's Office anonymous tip line at 510-667-3622.
