The 19-year-old man who was shot to death last week in Dillon Beach was identified as Stachaun Jackson, who lived in Dillon Beach and Guerneville, the sheriff's department said Monday.

Investigators had been withholding Jackson's name while trying to find family members to notify about his death. A relative was located in Wisconsin, said sheriff's Lt. Jame Scardina.

The accused killer, former Hayward resident Ken Patrick Neville, 56, remained in custody at the Marin County Jail on Monday while prosecutors decide whether to file charges.

The shooting occurred at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday in a trailer parked at Lawson's Landing, the beach campground at the mouth of Tomales Bay. Jackson was shot in the chest during an argument in the trailer.

Neville and another man, 53, had been renting the trailer lot since June. Jackson began staying there later, and sheriff's investigators said he had a relationship with the 53-year-old man.

Neville and the 53-year-old man were taken away for questioning after the shooting, and Neville was eventually booked on suspicion of murder. The 53-year-old resident did not witness the shooting, the sheriff's department said.
