A San Leandro man killed in a high-speed head-on collision over the weekend has been identified as 32-year-old Alejandro Ramirez-Juarez.
Ramirez-Juarez died following the Saturday night crash on East 14th Street between Davis and Chumalia streets, an Alameda County Coroner's Office spokesman said.
Police responded to the crash about 10:45 p.m. and learned the driver of one of the vehicles, Jesus Antonio Gonzalez, was headed north on 14th at a "very high rate of speed" and crossed into oncoming traffic near Davis Street, Lt. Robert McManus said.
Gonzalez was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and was still hospitalized on Monday with injuries suffered in the crash, police said.
A 56-year-old San Leandro man -- a passenger in Ramirez-Juarez's car -- was also injured and taken to a hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries, police said.
