REDWOOD CITY -- Investigators are looking into a suspicious shooting that left one person dead at a trailer park shortly before 6 p.m. Monday, according to San Mateo County sheriff's officials.

Deputies went to the Sequoia Trailer Park at 730 Barron Ave. in an unincorporated part of town on reports that someone had been found unresponsive and suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The person was located and pronounced dead at the scene.

"We are calling it suspicious," said sheriff's spokeswoman Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt. "But we don't have information yet to ascertain whether it was self-inflicted or something more sinister."

The site is between Spring Street and Fair Oaks Avenue, adjacent to Fair Oaks Elementary School.

No further information about the victim was immediately available.

Shots were reportedly fired at the trailer park in April of last year. In that case, officers found that a storage shed had been shot up, with numerous expended shell casings left behind on the ground. They returned to the park the next day after witnesses said a man had fired a handgun into the air in front of the park.
