HAYWARD -- The first of three city candidates nights takes place Wednesday.

Four candidates are seeking the seat being vacated by Mayor Michael Sweeney, and seven candidates are competing for two council positions in the June election.

The first forum begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Council Chambers, Hayward City Hall, 777 B St. It is being hosted by Hayward Neighborhood Alert and Asian Pacific Islander Public Affairs Association East Bay.

Two more Hayward election candidates nights are planned. The Southgate Area Homeowners Association is hosting one at 7 p.m. April 9 at the Alameda County Flood Control conference room, 951 Turner Court. The League of Women Voters has one starting at 6 p.m. April 23 at City Hall.
