Michael Strahan is about to challenge Ryan Seacrest as the busiest man in show business.

News broke Tuesday night that the former football player is joining "Good Morning America." On Wednesday morning, Strahan came clean on "Live with Kelly & Michael," which he co-hosts with Kelly Ripa.

Strahan said he was as "surprised" as anyone by the news that "GMA" wanted him in a not-yet-defined part-time role.

"The big news (is) that I'm going to be on 'GMA' now. But it's somewhat surprising," he added. "We had a meeting and talked about the possibility of doing something there."

After attending a "Captain America" screening Tuesday night, Strahan said he looked at his phone and discovered he had gotten the "GMA" gig. But that doesn't mean all the details are in place yet.

"This is what I do," he said, referring to his "Live" job and Ripa. "This is me. This is my home. No matter what. I go nowhere. This is my love. You are my love. This is my job. So don't worry, anybody, I'm not going anywhere."

Strahan also is a football analyst on "Fox NFL Sunday." But he made it clear on Wednesday's show that hosting "Live" remains his top priority and any role with "GMA" would have to factor that in.

"It's one of those things," he said. "I'd have to be smart about it. I don't know if I could do it as an everyday thing. I'm already busy enough."
