OAKLAND -- Two Oakland police officers were sent to a hospital Tuesday afternoon after their unmarked car collided with another vehicle that made a sudden turn, authorities said.
The names of the officers and the extent of their injuries were not immediately available. They are both expected to recover.
The collision happened about 2:25 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of 14th and Brush streets in West Oakland, next to Interstate 980.
Police said the plainclothes officers were driving an unmarked car southbound on Brush Street when another car -- also traveling south on Brush Street -- made a sudden and unexpected left turn in front of the officers' car onto 14th Street.
A woman driving the other vehicle declined medical attention, police said. Her name was not released.
The officers were taken by ambulance to an undisclosed hospital. No arrests had been made late Tuesday afternoon. The collision remains under investigation.
