FREMONT -- A gunman robbed a bank customer early Wednesday as he withdrew money from an ATM in the city's East Industrial neighborhood, police said.

Police were dispatched about 1 a.m. to the Irvington Bank of America branch on the 40600 block of Fremont Boulevard for a report of an armed robbery, said Sgt. Jeffrey Campbell.

The victim told police he withdrew money from the machine and that a man in his 20s, wearing a dark shirt and dark pants and holding a gun, stole his wallet and an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled the area in a white, four-door sedan.

The victim was not injured, police said.
