SAN JOSE -- A 48-year-old registered sex offender was arrested on suspicion of walking around the campus of Del Mar High School, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.
Kevin Pickens was arrested April 8 by members of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office SAFE (sexual assault felony enforcement) task force, according to Sgt. Andrea Urena.
Officers determined the San Jose resident illegally walked around the Del Mar campus on a weekday morning. Registered sex offenders must have permission from a school official to be on campus; Pickens did not have permission to be on the campus, the sheriff's office said.
Del Mar students were on spring break last week, according to the school's website.
According to the Megan's Law website, Pickens was convicted of assault with intent to commit a specified sex offense.
