BELMONT -- Police are searching for two men who on Friday stole nearly $6,000 worth of cigarettes from a Belmont Walgreens.
Officers responded about 4:15 a.m. to the store in the 900 block of Ralston Avenue after the burglary alarm alerted dispatch, Belmont police Capt. Pat Halleran said. When they arrived, they found a glass front door shattered by a block of concrete, and $5,700 worth of cigarettes missing from the store.
Investigators reviewed the stores security cameras and saw two men smashing the front glass door before loading boxes of cigarettes into plastic trash bags, Halleran said. The men were in the store for about two minutes before fleeing, and no vehicle was seen on camera.
The men are described as dark-skinned with medium builds, both wearing jeans and athletic shoes. One was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, the other a dark sweatshirt with a gray beanie.
