NEWARK -- A developer's plan to build 160 residences and a grocery store is up for City Council approval Thursday, representing one of several developments Newark leaders hope to advance this year.

City staffers recommend Integral Communities' proposal for 88 market-rate townhomes, 72 apartments for senior residents and a 15,000-square-foot market on eight acres at the southwest corner of Willow Street and Enterprise Drive.

The site is part of city leaders' vision to build 2,100 homes in Newark's Dumbarton Transit-Oriented Development, a 233-acre area near industrial plants and housing tracts.

Integral's development will be presented in a council meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the council chamber on the sixth floor of City Hall, 37101 Newark Blvd.
