FREMONT -- Police say a group of men robbed a man at gunpoint in Centerville Community Park over the weekend and attempted to rob another man shortly after.

Officers were dispatched at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday to the park just north of Washington High School after an 18-year-old victim dialed 911 to report he was robbed at gunpoint by three to four male suspects, said police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques.

The men stole the victim's smartphone, iPod and San Jose Sharks hat, Bosques said.

As that call was coming in, another victim -- a 20-year-old man -- called 911 to report the same suspects had also attempted to rob him in the park. But that time the suspects left empty-handed, Bosques said.

Police searched the area but did not locate the suspects.

The suspect armed with the gun was described as a Hispanic man, 18-20 years old, with dark shoulder-length wavy hair. He was seen leaving in a brown vehicle with two to three other men.
