SAN FRANCISCO -- A Daly City man was identified as the victim in a deadly hit and run crash early Saturday in San Francisco's Mission District.

Johny William Alonzo-Castillo, 26, was driving east on Cesar Chavez Street about 2:20 a.m. when a car traveling south on Folsom flew through a red light at high speed, San Francisco police Officer Albie Esparza said. The car that ran the light broadsided Alonzo-Castillo's vehicle, ramming it into a third vehicle in the middle of the intersection.

While no one in the suspect car appeared to be hurt, Esparza said the driver and several passengers bolted from the scene, leaving only one passenger from that car to be interviewed by investigators. Alonzo-Castillo was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the third car was treated for minor injuries and released, Esparza said. The passenger in the suspect vehicle was questioned and released.

As of Monday afternoon, the occupants of the suspect car still had not been found, Esparza said. In light of Alonzo-Castillo's death, the driver is wanted on vehicular manslaughter charges, and the driver and passengers are wanted on charges of felony hit-and-run resulting in death.
