SUNNYVALE -- Police are searching for a robber who held a senior couple at gunpoint Saturday afternoon, one day after appearing at the home's front door and inquiring about a job.

The robbery happened shortly after 3 p.m. on the 1000 block of Syracruse Avenue, when a bearded man described as Hispanic and in his late 20s to early 30s took unspecified items from the couple, according to Sunnyvale police. He was about 5-foot-7 with an average build, wearing a green T-shirt, dark pants and possibly a dark jacket. He spoke with a Hispanic accent, police said.

The woman recognized him as a man who she had seen crouching on her porch on Friday. When she opened the door -- believing that the man was delivering a package -- the man stood up and said something about a job before leaving.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety at 408-730-7100.
