SANTA CRUZ -- A Sacramento County fire chief wanted on suspicion of killing his 26-year-old girlfriend has ties to the Santa Cruz Mountains, according to authorities.
Orville "Moe" Fleming, 55, is a Cal Fire battalion chief who lived with Sarah Douglas in south Sacramento County, said Sacramento County sheriff's Sgt. Lisa Bowman.
Fleming killed Douglas there on May 1 and fled, deputies said. Fleming often goes to the Sierra Mountains, Yosemite Valley and the Santa Cruz Mountains, according to authorities.
Fleming has keys to fire gates and Cal Fire facilities throughout the state. He also is believed to have .45-caliber and .25-caliber handguns, deputies said. Bowman said Fleming likely has cuts on his hands from the attack that may be bandaged.
"Fleming should be considered armed and dangerous," Bowman said.
Fleming is Caucasian, 6 feet 1 inch tall and about 190 pounds, authorities said. He has brown hair and brown eyes and often wears a baseball cap. He has a moustache but has been known to shave it and shave his head, deputies said.
Fleming also has two tattoos on his upper left arm.
